Now...the 6 Steps to Success - what is this all about?!
I'm working out consistently and listening to The Strangest Secret in the World while doing so...and near the end of the recording (see link) you hear Earl Nightengale read:
An outstanding medical doctor recently pointed out six steps that will help you realize success.
- Set yourself a definite goal.
- Quit running yourself down.
- Stop thinking of all the reasons why you cannot be successful...
- ...and instead think of all the reasons why you can.
- Trace your attitudes back through your childhood and try to discover where you first got the idea you couldn’t not be a success if that is the way you’ve been thinking.
- Change the image you have of yourself by writing out a description of the person you would like to be.
- Act the part of the successful person you have decided to become.
The doctor who wrote those words is a noted West Coast psychiatrist, David Harold Fink, MD. Do what all the experts since the dawn of recorded history have told you you must do: pay the price by becoming the person you want to become. It’s not nearly as difficult as living unsuccessfully.
That's powerful.
So powerful that I stopped and wrote it down in my journal.
So powerful that I cross referenced it with the transcription online (see link)
So powerful that I decided to share this with you and make it the topic of today's show (even though there was a little extra thrown in there as well)

Hey everyone. Did you ever wish someone just handed you six simple steps to help you realize success? Well, today I'm going to share with you those six steps in conjunction with a review of this past week. Now I'd like to give you some feedback on the new podcast schedule while reflecting on the productivity and success that the new schedule allows. And we're going to talk about all that and more in this episode number 80 of the All Around Growth Podcast. And this is a show where we talk about how and why we build the lives of our dreams. My name is Rob Kaiser, and I am your host. Today is Saturday, January 16th, 2021. It is the 16th, isn't it? Indeed it is. And today's show title is The Six Steps to Success. Now in the last few episodes, I'd been alluding to the schedule change of the podcast. And up until now, the podcast had largely been recorded in my truck during the morning commute each day. Over the holidays and the new year, I decided to take a different approach to recording the podcast. And instead of recording a daily podcast during the morning commute, I decided that I would do a weekly recording from the homestead office. Why? Well, this would allow me to slow down, focus, and ultimately deliver a higher quality content, making it even more worth your time. So let's get right into the topic of today's show, which is the six steps to success. Now, I'm not gonna lie, the show topic is really a teaser, and I kind of hinted at what we're going to get into today in addition to that, and that's going to be a bit of a reflection on the past week, which concludes with those six steps to success. So let's take a look at the lessons learned, the highs, the lows, the memorable moments, and all of that stuff. Now, this is a weekly review. This this little exercise is something that I've been doing for quite some time. I actually talked about this in great detail in episode number 16. And I do this in the best self journal. It's outlined very neatly and nicely, and that was kind of the format that I used for the show today. So why you know why this instead of some dialogue about current events? Because everyone seems to be talking about that. I'm talking about this because all of that is bullshit. Change your life. I'm sharing all of this with you because this is how I'm changing mine. Don't let the outside world control your world. You control you. And that's why we're talking about this. So let's get into the weekend review. My weeks now begin on Sunday, as opposed to last year, which basically had me operating with my weeks beginning on a Monday. That was new. Uh, the journal that I was using at that time, the old format of the best self journal, was structured like that, so I decided to try it. It was it was what it was. I I I but then when the journal reformatted, I decided it, you know, it's nice, it's back on Sunday, and that's kind of a reframing because basically my week now begins with church on Sunday. And because of the current pandemic and everything like that, we are watching church on television, and last week I decided to invite my parents to church by going over to their place and watching it together in the living room on television, which is strange. Now, as the week began, I sort of felt off because of the change to this schedule and the fact that I wasn't recording every day. That is something that I had been doing for a couple of months now. And by changing the podcast's schedule, it changed my routine a little bit, but I got used to it towards the end of the week. I mean, new habits are hard, and even something as simple as removing something that we are accustomed to doing is also challenging. I did get into some online dog training and progressed with that. That's the Tobias Olinek IGP training. Uh, it's a working dog training protocol. If you are into dogs and you find yourself struggling with how to manage or train your dog, especially if your dog is smart, this is a great program. I was able to execute a successful software update at the day job, and things are rolling along smoothly there, and I'm happy to hear it because when things go smoothly there, in general, things are smooth in life, and that allows for more productivity and ease in the rest of my life. Now, one of the goals that I've got for this quarter is to consistently work out three or four times a week, minimum of three. This week it did four every other day, and the way that that is working out is if I just do a kettlebell workout every other day, then I will at least get that uh I will not only meet but exceed my goal of a minimum three times a week. Why kettlebells? Well, I'm in a number of these, these, you know, these these chat groups, and you know, one specifically this came up on uh a Discord group that is built around the survival podcast. And there was a subgroup in there about fitness, and you know, I'm also in one for Hotep Nation, and this could have been there too. I don't really remember. At any rate, someone came across, and we were having a discussion about the most effective way to work out the most time, you know, the most just the most effective workout that one could do. And I know there's a lot of options, but it was the the consensus was a kettlebell workout was a good workout, and that is something that I've never I've I've just never I've never done, so I figured I would try it. Um doesn't take much in terms of equipment. You got a kettlebell, and there you go. So I am pleased with how I feel. It is difficult getting back in shape, but it's worth it, and I'm going to stick with it. I certainly did this week, and I feel like that's a good start to the month and the year. Now, Thursday there was a Medina County Freedom Cell Network meeting. And recently, within the past couple of months, I decided to organize a Freedom Cell, and you can learn more at freedomcells.org, but it is a community of people self-organizing around the concepts of freedom. There's uh it's basically limited to your imagination in terms of what you want to do and how you want to do it, and you can learn more at freedomcells.org. Bottom line is I organized one, we met last month for the first time, we met this month, except no one showed, and that's okay. Okay, so I went there, I ate my little sandwich and waited. No one showed up. I promptly left because I double booked myself, and what happened is that I wanted to attend a webinar that Dan Miller was hosting as part of the the this like a 48-days masterclass webinar. And the title of that webinar was How to Find Your Sweet Spot, the place where talent, passion, and money meet for ultimate success. Okay. Now, what's cool is I believe there's a replay available, and I've linked to it in the show notes, and you can check it out and you can see why I'm getting kind of excited about this 48 Days Eagles community. Now, basically, this is a community committed to finding or creating work they love together. It is on a platform called Mighty Networks. It is not a part of Facebook, it's this independent little social media platform that allows really nice interaction and engagement with people who are basically just like you and I. Everybody's working towards improving themselves. It's almost like they're on their own path as well. Path towards all-around growth. And quite frankly, you know, I need this in my life right now. Part of the idea of removing certain things in my life to make room for all the new things that I'm adding is an idea that was presented to me by Dan Miller as well. And this is something that he talked about in a podcast episode where he was talking about his own experiences with burnout and how he began implementing and incorporating some functional health routines into his own life, and in order to do so, he had to eliminate and actively eliminate certain other parts of his life. And that is something that I have been doing, and I've been finding ways to do that in various aspects of my life, and the results have certainly been positive. Now, I also feel like I need this kind of positive community in my life because I'm not real happy with with my my job. I'm not really happy with the leadership there. And but what's weird is I'm I'm I'm also conflicted because I feel like my day job falls within that sweet spot. And I've been able to continue to make it work, even though I'm not too thrilled about upper management, because I work largely in an independent manner, and the person that I share an office with is awesome, and we work exceptionally well together. So while I figure out what I'm going to do in the long term, this is a great way to give me some structure to help me put together that plan. And since I've gotten out of debt, the only reason why I'm doing this now is yes, this is another thing that costs money. It's a monthly subscription, but I stopped just about every single monthly subscription while I was getting out of debt. And now that I've gotten out of debt, and now that I've reached a three-month monthly expenses savings goal, it's given me the opportunity to think a little bit more clearly now that I am feeling a little bit more stable and before doing a program like this. If you're still in debt, that would be my first suggestion is focus your time, effort, and energy on a program like Financial Peace University, get gazelle intense and work the baby steps step by step and word for word. And then once you've gotten your financial house in order, move forward with a program like 48 Days in the Eagles community. Now, that was my Thursday night, and that was really a highlight of my week. I also spent some time transcribing or putting notes to a family meeting that we had a couple months ago about the state of the farm now and the future moving forward. That was basically dad outlining the situation that mom and he are in to us kids so that we can all learn and plan and determine how we're going to you know move forward with the farm and homestead as a family. And that was the first time we'd ever done anything like that, and so revisiting that to get it down on paper and share with everyone is something I feel honored to do, and that kind of brings us into this podcast preparation and recording right now. I'm looking at working the whole day in the barn, working on the commercial kitchen in there, and then doing a little bit of work on the York Meadow Farm blog later today, and possibly a date this evening with my girlfriend, but that date may just include a phone call because she's been sick, but luckily doesn't have the COVID. Alright, so what's up with the six steps to success? Now that you've heard a little bit about my week, the high points of it. The six steps to success. What's up with that? Now the extra time in the mornings this week has allowed me to slow down a little bit more, like I said. And I'm less concerned in the mornings with preparing notes for the mobile podcast than I am engaging in and ensuring the completion of my morning routine. And like I said, I've been working out consistently, and while doing so, instead of having some music to pump you up, I'm going full nerd and working out while listening to The Strangest Secret in the World by Earl Nightingale. And near the end of the recording, and I've listened to this, you know, I've worked out four times this week, I've listened to this four times this week. And near the end of the recording, you can hear Earl Nightingale read the following Quote An outstanding medical doctor recently pointed out six steps that will help you realize success. One, set yourself a definite goal. Two, quit running yourself down. Three, stop thinking of all the reasons why you cannot be successful, and instead think of all the reasons why you can. Trace your attitudes back through your childhood and try to discover where you first got the idea you couldn't not be a success if that is the way you've been thinking. 5. Change the image you have of yourself by writing out a description of the person you would like to be. And six, act the part of the successful person you have decided to become. The doctor who wrote those words is a noted West Coast psychiatrist, Dr. Harold Fink. Do what all the experts since the dawn of recorded history have told you you must do. Pay the price by becoming the person you want to become. It's not nearly as difficult as living unsuccessfully. That's powerful. Listening to it for the fourth time this morning, it was so powerful that I stopped what I was doing to write it down in my journal. It was so powerful that I cross-referenced it with the full transcription online. And I've linked to that in the recording that I listened to, both in the show notes. And it was so powerful that I decided to share this with you and make it the topic of today's show, even though there was a little extra thrown in there as well. And I'm hoping that this episode was a valuable use of your time, just like I hope it is with every episode. And if you think that it is, and you enjoy listening to it, I'd like to encourage you to go to the show notes and scroll all the way to the bottom, past all the other useful information, and you'll see a link that says click here to rate and review the podcast. You can do that, that'll take you to Apple Podcasts. And real quick, you can leave a five-star rating. And right now, most of the listens are taking place via that platform somehow. And the ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts are the most important algorithms that we can attempt to manipulate right now. And your help in doing so is certainly appreciated.
