Notes to come…
Well, good morning and welcome back to another episode of the All Around Road Podcast. My name is Rob Kaiser, and I am your host. And this morning we are on the road again. It is Sunday morning. I am in town. And I'm headed back home only to return back to town. Why, you may ask. Well, I've got a story to share with you, and it's a little it's a little comical and a little interesting, but I also am kind of stoked to share it with you because the end result is my first wholesale sale. And here's how all of this went down, and you guys are gonna have to bear with me. With the uh background noise as I am driving and using my headphones instead of my usual mic, but we make do with what we have. Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without, as my parents would say. Um the comical part of the story that preceded the wholesale sauerkraut sales this morning goes as follows. I went into town a little early to grab a coffee and spend some time journaling. But the the coffee experience was uh a little lackluster. It took more time than expected, and by the time I actually got up to the lodge to journal, I only had about five to ten minutes before I felt like I needed to get over to church. So I bundled up what I was doing, my journal, closed the blinds in the lodge, left and looked at the menu to our new tenant below, Jane, um, Jane's diner, and saw that they offered a classic breakfast for eight bucks, and I thought, oh, okay, I'll check it out, you know, see what's going on down there. I have yet to actually go into the establishment. And while many other people, uh many other members of the lodge have seen the progress down there. I have not, so uh I've peeked in, seen some new art, seen some new new everything, heard updates during our meetings and such, but I've yet to actually lay eyes on it myself, and I figured the best way to do that would be to grab breakfast. Yet I made my way to church and granted I was a little bit early because no one was there. And uh so I sat down. And I didn't see anyone. I spent some time sitting in a comfortable chair underneath a portrait of Christ. It was the very same portrait that used to hang in my grandparents' house, and I remember it very vividly as a child. So I sat there for a few moments and thought, very good, I'm moving on with my day. And I decided that I was going to go back to Jane's, uh grab breakfast, and then go back up to the lodge and continue my weekly review. Now, um what happened was I got to Jane's and uh I let her run through the whole menu, which is ever changing since it's a new place, and they have chicken paprikoche and corned beef and you know all sorts of homemade goodies, uh things that I can't even pronounce like these little uh crepe type pastries, some kind of I I don't know, lots of ethnic s goodies. And uh as I ate breakfast I thought, well I don't know, you know, they made a point to tell me that lots of everything was locally sourced and the bacon had no nitrates or yeah yeah, all the things that people like to hear, you know, um things that I too am interested in, and and actually things that we've learned to share with people about our sauerkraut. It's all part of the sales pitch. And you know, I'm I'm used to saying it, so I'm I'm I'm I'm I guess I'm I'm also interested in letting other people hear it because I know I I get what they're trying to do. So I'm glad I did because I heard Reuben and this and their special take on it, much like Sully's down the road, they do a Reuben egg roll, which is delicious. And I mentioned that I could appreciate what they were doing with the establishment and the art because all of the art was by her daughter, and her husband helped with the you know framing out and the building of things and yada yada yada. And that uh that was that it was a family affair, and I told her that I could certainly appreciate that because I am up at the farmer's market with my family, and we are trying to build something from scratch as well. And I said if there was ever any interest you know, with the Rubens, if they ever wanted local sauerkraut, then we could certainly assist with that at wholesale. And she said, Oh yeah, you know, definitely bring some up. And I said, Well, I don't know what I have available right now, but I can definitely do that. And I just sold uh 10 pounds of it right now, like right off the bat. Boom! And granted, it's about all I can do or all we can do at this time, because we don't really have anything available uh wholesale to go. And um and I'm thinking, and I'm really hoping that we have what I just sold. Otherwise, that's going to make for an awkward uh interaction when I go back there, but uh yeah, I'm sure we've got something, careway or something. I I don't know. I'll figure it out, but that's what we do. Um, needless to say, they are interested in volume, they didn't really seem too interested in the price. So I laid it out there. They wanted more. I'm gonna bring them what I can do, and I will lock in a custom order and have I guess probably 35 pounds to them uh in a month. We'll see how it goes. Maybe more. So that's uh that's the story, and I'm sticking to it, guys. Uh sometimes a change of plan can be good. Um, I think I'm going to utilize all of this today as a whole business expense that resulted in a sale, and this is also some encouragement for me to spend some time today doing some bookkeeping and accounting and getting caught up on the past few months because that is something that I always neglect, but it is something that is definitely important. So, guys, that's all I've got for today on this Sunday morning. It's been an interesting and exciting morning, and I'm happy to share this story and the uh the the the little success story over breakfast with you. So, I don't know, guys. Look forward to catching you in the chat to discuss everything and more. t.me slash all around growth. And uh have a wonderful day. I look forward to catching you tomorrow. This is Rob Kaiser, and thank you.
